Mawa Modak

Mawa Modak are made from milk solid based recipe which is made generally during the festival season of Ganesh Chaturthi and served as offerings to Lord Ganesha.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups mawa grated (khoya)
  • 5 tbsp. powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. pistachios chopped
  • 1/4 tsp. cardamom powder
  • strands of saffron
  • 1 tbsp. lukewarm milk

Instructions
 

  • Combine the saffron and milk in a small bowl, mix well and keep aside.
  • Put the Mawa in a deep non-stick pan, cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes, while stirring continuously.
  • Add the saffron-milk mixture and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
  • Spread in a deep plate and keep aside to cool for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Crumble the Mawa with your fingers, add powdered sugar, cardamom powder and pistachios. Mix well and keep it in the fridge for 10 minutes.
  • Take a portion of the mawa mixture, keep it on one side of the greased modak mold and close the modak mold tightly.
  • Remove the excess modak mixture from the sides of the modak mold and remove the modak from the mould.
  • Make the remaining modaks. Serve the mawa modak immediately or use as required.
