Walnut Ladoo are best for the people who does not like walnut raw. Even children can eat it. These are very tasty. Quick, easy and healthy ladoos made with walnuts, atta and jaggery. Walnuts are loaded with omega 3 fatty acids and vitamins hence its good for brain development in growing children. This walnuts ladoo is a healthy treat for babies and kids, it can be served as a snack and its ideal for travel too.

Laddus are often made of gram flour but can also be made with semolina or poha or oats. Sometimes ingredients such as chopped nuts and/or dried raisins can also be added. The type of ingredients used vary by recipe.

Originally associated with states like Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, these ladoos were also easy to store in the torrid temperatures, and wouldn’t go bad for days. Motichoor Ladoo has also found its mention in ancient and medieval texts of South and Eastern regions.

  • Tips: Sautéing the walnut poha mix after grinding is purely optional. But it helps to roll the ladoos easily.
  • Make sure to ground the walnuts finely for small babies in order to avoid choking hazard.
  • This walnuts ladoo stay well for 4 days at room temperature.
  • Always check with your doctor before giving any new food to your baby.

      Ingredients
       
       

      • 1 cup walnuts
      • 1 cup atta poha / oats
      • ¾ cup Jaggery gur
      • ¼ tsp cardamom powder
      • 1 tbsp ghee
      • ½ cup dry fruits optional but it gives crunch to ladoos.

      Instructions
       

      • Suate walnuts for 1 minutes. Keep aside.
      • Blend walnut in a mixer into powder
      • Heat ghee in a kadhai, add atta and roast till the atta turns aromatic and golden in color.
      • Take the jaggery in a pan and let it melt into syrup.
      • Add cardamom powder in the syrup.
      • Add walnut powder and atta in the jaggery syrup and mix everything together.
      • Add crushed dry fruits in the mix if you want some extra crunch in the ladoo.
      • Let the mixture cool down a bit and make small ladoo out of the mixture.
