एक जंगल में एक कबूतर , चूहा और एक हिरण तीनों घनिष्ठ मित्र रहा करते थे।
जंगल में बने सरोवर में पानी पीते फल खाते और वही सरोवर के आसपास घुमा फिरा करते थे।
एक समय की बात है जंगल में एक शिकारी , शिकार करने आया उसने हिरण को पकड़ने के लिए जाल बिछाया।
काफी प्रयत्न और मेहनत से शिकारी ने जाल को छिपाकर लगाने सफलता पा ली। शिकारी के जाल में हिरण आसानी से फंस गया।
इस पर कबूतर ने कहा घबराओ मत मित्र मैं देखता हूं शिकारी कहां है और कितनी दूर है मैं।
मैं उसको रोकता हूं जब तक हमारा मित्र चूहा तुम्हारे जाल को कुतर देगा और तुम जल्दी से निकल जाओगे।
यही हुआ कबूतर ने शिकारी को ढूंढना शुरू किया। वह दूर था कबूतर ने अपने प्राण को जोखिम में डालकर शिकारी के ऊपर वार करना शुरू कर दिया।

कबूतर के प्रहार से शिकारी को कुछ समझ में नहीं आया और वह परेशान होकर बचने लगा मगर कबूतर शिकारी को ज्यादा देर तक रोक नहीं पाया।
शिकारी ने जल्दी ही कबूतर पर काबू पा लिया और वह जाल की ओर आया।
यहां चूहे ने जाल को लगभग काट दिया था अब हिरण आजाद होने वाला था
तभी शिकारी वहां पहुंचा इतने में कबूतर का एक झुंड वह जल्दी से आकर उस शिकारी के ऊपर ताबड़तोड़ आक्रमण कर दिया।

इस आक्रमण से शिकारी घबरा गया। थोड़ा सा समय उन कबूतर पर काबू पाने में लगा।
इतने मे चूहे ने निडर भाव से जाल को कुतर दिया जिससे हिरण आजाद हो गया।
अब क्या था हिरण और चूहा अपने अपने रास्ते भाग चलें। कुछ दूर भागे होंगे
उन्होंने पीछे मुड़कर देखा तो उनका मित्र कबूतर शिकारी के चंगुल में आ गया था।
हिरण ने सोचा उसने मेरी जान बचाने के लिए अपनी जान खतरे में डाल दी।
इस पर हिरण धीरे – धीरे लंगड़ाकर चलने लगा
शिकारी को ऐसा लगा कि हिरण घायल है उसके पैर में चोट लगी है
इसलिए वह धीरे धीरे चल रहा है , वह भाग नहीं सकता।
शिकारी ने झट से कबूतर को छोड़ दिया और हिरण की तरफ दौड़ा।
शिकारी को आता देख कबूतर उड़ कर आकाश में चल पड़ा हिरण जो अभी नकल कर रहा था वह भी तेज दौड़ कर भाग गया
और चूहा दौड़ कर बिल में घुस गया।
इस प्रकार तीनों दोस्तों की सूझबूझ ने एक दूसरे की रक्षा की।

A pigeon, a mouse and a deer used to be close friends in a forest.
They used to eat fruits drinking water in the lake built in the forest and roam around the same lake.
Once upon a time, a hunter came to the forest to hunt, he laid a net to catch the deer.
With a lot of effort and hard work, the hunter succeeded in hiding the net.
The deer easily got caught in the hunter’s net. To this the pigeon said, don’t panic friend, I see where the hunter is and how far I am.
I hold it until our friend’s mouse gnaws on your trap and you leave quickly.
This is what happened when the pigeon started looking for the hunter.
He was away, the pigeon started attacking the hunter risking his life.

The hunter did not understand anything due to the attack of the pigeon and he started getting upset and escaped,
but the pigeon could not stop the hunter for long.
The hunter quickly overpowered the pigeon and came towards the net.
Here the mouse had almost cut the net, now the deer was about to be free,
when the hunter reached there, so a bunch of pigeons came quickly and attacked that hunter.
The hunter was frightened by this attack. It took some time to get over those pigeons.
In this, the mouse fearlessly gnawed the net, due to which the deer became free.
Now what was the deer and the mouse should go on their way.
Some may have run away, when he looked back, his friend had come under the clutches of a pigeon hunter.
The deer thought he risked his life to save my life.
On this the deer slowly started walking lame, it seemed to the hunter that the deer is injured.
The hunter hastily released the pigeon and ran towards the deer.
Seeing the hunter coming, the pigeon flew away and walked in the sky.
The deer who was just copying, he also ran fast and the mouse ran and entered the bill.
Thus the understanding of the three friends protected each other.
Moral of the Story : This story of Panchatantra teaches us that with mutual understanding and prudence, any problem can be faced.
