Devi Skandamata – Fifth Navratri – देवी स्कंदमाता, माँ दुर्गा के नौ रूपों में से पाँचवाँ स्वरूप हैं। नवरात्रि के पाँचवें दिन इनकी पूजा की जाती है। स्कंदमाता का नाम उनके पुत्र स्कंद (भगवान कार्तिकेय) से जुड़ा हुआ है। देवी स्कंदमाता अपनी गोद में भगवान स्कंद को लेकर विराजमान होती हैं, इसलिए इन्हें “स्कंद की माता” कहा जाता है।
देवी स्कंदमाता का स्वरूप अत्यंत सौम्य और ममतामयी है। वे कमल के आसन पर बैठी हुई होती हैं, इसलिए इन्हें “पद्मासना” भी कहा जाता है। देवी के चार हाथ होते हैं—दोनों ऊपर के हाथों में कमल के पुष्प धारण किए हुए हैं, एक हाथ में भगवान स्कंद (कार्तिकेय) हैं, और दूसरा हाथ भक्तों को आशीर्वाद देता है। उनकी सवारी सिंह है।
