How to preserve Chapati for few weeks

If Chapatis are preserved, they can be consumed over a very long period of time up to months.
One way is to preserve chapatis for a very long period by freezing them.

If you can then use Chaki ka Atta than packaged wheat flour, and if you can’t avoid using packaged Atta then make sure you sieve it properly.

It should help make your Chapatis a bit softer in texture.

  1. Avoid Flipping the chapatis multiple times.
  2. If you flip the chapati on the tawa multiple times instead of ONLY once then it will lose moisture and tends to become hard. The pan needs to be at the right temperature, If it’s cold then the chapatis will become hard.
  1. Put chapatis in freezer bags or just any polythene bag to prevent chapati from absorbing water in the freezer.
Put them in the freezer until the time you need them.

How to freeze Chapati

  1. Defrost /Thawing Chapatis.

  2. The best way to thaw chapati is to transfer chapati from the FREEZER to the FRIDGE at least three hours before consumption.
This way they will thaw slowly minimizing the risk of bacteria proliferation.

To quickly thaw chapati use a microwave. Cover the chapatis nicely and use the defrosting option in the microwave setting.

If you have to use the warming setting in a microwave, cover chapatis and thaw for a very short time; less than a minute, otherwise they will dry out into crackers.

Do not thaw at room temperature for several hours could increase a risk of bacteria multiplication and growth.

You can now preserve your chapati as long as you want.
